Organizing Thoughts 13 (On Christmas Day)

This is how it will work.

There will be no more money, and no more bank accounts. Capitalism will no longer establish any one’s “worth.”

Everyone will shop, instead, with credits they acquire contributing to the common good (and they will continually shop not just for themselves, but for others).

Under this system, some of those who are currently poor or not well paid will be wealthy, and the wealthy — well! They should think now about a certain difficulty associated with getting a camel through the eye of needle. For the idea is for “heaven” to be achieved on earth.

The meek will not have to wait to inherit anything. There will be no exploitation of others — no matter how indirect, no matter how seemingly minor. Everyone will act for the good of all, or find somewhere else to go. For as one Occupier in Edmonton writes by way of signature on his listserv posts, “I hear a new world coming.”

no to the idea of credits! we prefer the concept of free access, it is the only way we can live freely and equally. Social equality is the belief we all have equal right and responsibility for the earth and its resources. This will pan out as equality of access to goods and services , equality of access to decision making proccesses.

My apologies in the delay in replying to your comment, Nick. I’ve been involved with another political fight for the past week. My idea was fanciful, of course, and a way of responding to a system ostensibly based on “credit,” but a form of credit that puts the great majority of us into debt so that a very few have the vast amount of the “credit” available. I agree heartily with your contention that what we need is equal right and responsibility for the earth and its resources
